When the trailer was finally released, fans were quick to spot similarities between it and the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, citing specific shots that seemed almost identical to Episode VII's trailer. Basically, a lifetime ago, so good luck to the cast on remembering what happened when it comes to the promotional trail. Sadly that wasn't the final delay, but (hopefully) now we're finally at the end of the road.įilming on the sequel took place from May 2018 to June 2019. However, the sequel was then hit with another delay to December 23, 2020, and that wasn't the end of it as Paramount then pushed the sequel back to Jonly for it to be delayed again to November 19, 2021. A delay of an entire year followed, before that date was moved forward slightly to Jin the US and Jin the UK.
If that Top Gun date holds firm, it means the sequel will arrive on our screens a little under three years from its original Jdate.
